Educational visits

We are proud to operate our museum in the lovely little town of Matlock Bath.  We welcome thousands of visitors every year, many in school and other organised groups.  The museum is packed with artefacts and things to do to interest the youngsters in the group.  It is important that groups book in advance to avoid clashing with other groups.  The group will benefit from the services of a guide who will have stories and activities to enrich the experience (and perhaps taking some of the pressure of the accompanying adults!).

This web site can only show you a little of what we have to offer, come and enjoy the full experience.  It’s best to allow 2-3 hours for the combined museum and real historic underground lead mine.  You should allow at least an hour for each.

The underground trips are at limited and numbers are restricted, please check our News or Facebook  page for latest information.  Group leaders should get in touch in advance my email   loading... or phone  01629 583834 in advance to check availability of the museum and the mine tour.

A teenage girl emerges from a tunnel. Around the exit of the tunnel there is a brown wood surround which is set into rock. To the left of the image there is a date in red marked on a large rock which says 1764. This is a pretend date stone and real examples of them have been found in mines.
