This walk will lead you around the various quarries in the town of Wirksworth. You will discover what was quarried, why and how. There are many tales of the workers and their wives which will also be shared. The walk, led by Lynn Willies, takes around 3 hours and covers 3 miles. There are steep uphill and down dale parts but with good paths. If it rains the walk still goes ahead. No charge for this walk as it is organised by the Peak District Mines Historical Society. Parking is available behind the Limekiln Pub but it would be appreciated if you popped in for a drink or some food before and/or after the walk. Other parking is in town and is pay & display.
