Image has a woman and child in the foreground. The woman is wearing a white mining helmet. The young child is wearing a yellow mining helmet. Both are smiling. Behind them on the right-hand side of the image there are lots of colourful helmets hung up. Behind them it is dark.

We are open from 11am until 4pm every day. There are mine tours at 11am, 1pm & 2.10pm. These do fill up very quickly so we advise that you ‘phone 01629 583834 to book places on them. If we have pre-booked group visits the mine may be closed to the public and the museum may be noisier than usual – when you ‘phone us our staff will be able to advise you of this.

A teenage girl emerges from a tunnel. Around the exit of the tunnel there is a brown wood surround which is set into rock. To the left of the image there is a date in red marked on a large rock which says 1764. This is a pretend date stone and real examples of them have been found in mines.
