School visits

The Museum and Temple Mine are suitable for a wide range of educational visits. Topics covered have numerous links to the National Curriculum.
A typical KS2 school visit will involve a guided tour of the museum with one of our knowledgeable staff, time for the pupils to explore and enjoy the climbing tunnels and an underground guided tour of Temple Mine, followed by ‘panning for gold’. Pupils enjoy spending time in our gift shop too. To do all of these activities, you need to allow around 2 1⁄2 to 3 hours. You may need longer for larger groups.

For groups such as Brownies and Scouts we offer evening activity sessions. These are suitable for groups of fewer than 30 people. The information pack is available [coming soon].

We also cater for higher education and lifelong learning groups, for example those with an interest in geology or industrial heritage will find a visit extremely rewarding. Further information is on the Adult Group Visits page.
